My Contribution
As a Designer
Designed all the system and level setup. Such as the Space ship level up, enemy types and also the numerical balance. For the level design part, focused on the goal of the level. Created a liner goal in such a free moving game, for example to defeat mini bosses gradually to unlock the final boss. Also adjusted the pace of the level by enemies spawn rules.
As a Producer
Manage the project using HacknPlan, a project management software. Creating tasks and send out work to the team members, predict the amount of works and plan for springs. Overall, our team did a great job, everything is on schedule.
As a Developer
Work in Unity engine, coding for the enemy spawns, health and damage system, game UI and the ship upgradation.
Beside the work in engine, I was working on the one sheet for this game using Photoshop, the sheet is shown on the left.
Reference
Bosconian is a scrolling multidirectional shooter arcade video game developed and released by Namco in Japan in 1981.
Takeaways
· This is the first-ever team project I have experienced in game development. Valuable experience to work with a team of different experties, especially as a producer to manage the whole development process.
· First time for me to design and develop an arcade game, have expanded the genre of games I can design, practical experience in making flying shooting games.
